Medications: Vasodilators

Vascodilators are used to lower blood pressure. Medications such as vascodilators can help relax and dilate blood vessels that have become narrowed (constricted).

Some generic (brand) names
-nitroglycerin (Nitro-Dur)
-isosorbide (Isordil)
-hydralazine (Minipres)

What they're used for
- To treat high blood pressure
- To treat/prevent angina (chest pain related to the heart) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD)

How they work
Vasodilators help relax and dilate the blood vessels, so blood moves through them more easily.
